1) Starting at the left temple, twist your hair up. Continue down as far as you can around your hairline, securing with pins.
2) Wrap the central bulk of your hair around your finger to create a roll. Have your pins ready, and when you’ve got your hair rolled up, pin the roll into place.
3) For the best finish, tease the curl open a bit and pin the center of the roll.
For short/fine hair: Backcomb and, if necessary, use a foam roller to secure the roll in place.
For long hair: Your roll won’t be as neat or small as that of shorter hairstyles, but if you do it properly, you can create a great 1940s look.
